Victims of Violent Crime Compensation
Financial assistance for certain crime-related expenses is available to some victims of violent crime through the Victim of Violent Crime Compensation and Assistance Division of the Attorney General’s Office. This program is funded by the federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) and the state. Eligible victims and their families can receive compensation for medical, dental and mental health counseling expenses, funeral and burial expenses, lost wages resulting from crime-related injuries and the loss of financial support for the dependents of homicide victims.
