American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)/Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Grant Program

Through the Office for Victims of Crime, Recovery Act Victim Assistance Grant Program, MOVA received approximately $930,000 to support positions within victim services agencies across the Commonwealth.  An open bid for contracts was conducted in August of 2009, with contracts beginning October 1, 2009 with two options to renew in FY2011 and FY2012.  ARRA/VOCA funds support full-time positions only dedicated to providing direct, intervention services to victims of crime within four federally designated priority areas: domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and homicide bereavement.  ARRA/VOCA awards are one-time only awards and support an array of services in each major geographic region of Massachusetts.  To view a list of ARRA/VOCA recipients, please click here.

This grant program is authorized by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 (Public Law 111-5) and by the Victims of Crime Act of 1984 (VOCA), 42 U.S.C. 10603 (a).  For additional information regarding ARRA, including data and money tracking tools, or to report potential fraud, waste, or abuse, please visit www.recovery.gov.  For specific information related to Recovery dollars at work and quarterly Citizens' Updates in Massachusetts, please visit the Massachusetts Recovery and Reinvestment Office website.
