Funding Opportunities & Grants
MOVA funds approximately 100 programs across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that provide free counseling and advocacy services to victims of crime. The funding itself comes from several sources:
- The Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), supported through the Federal Crime Victims Fund;
- The SAFEPLAN program, supported through state monies and federal grants;
- The Drunk Driving Trust Fund (DDTF), supported through state mandated fees assessed against offenders; and
- The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)/Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), supported though the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
The funds are administered by The Grants Management and Program Resources (GMPR) team, which is dedicated to providing the tools and resources necessary for service providers to maximize their efforts. GMPR provides technical assistance and support directly to victim services providers.
