SB 2510 Provisions Maintained in the Outside Sections of the FY 11 Budget

Thanks to the leadership and support of Senate Ways and Means Committee (SWM) Chairman, Senator Steven Panagiotakos, provisions of Senate Bill 2510 (the new bill number for MOVA's victim rights legislation) pertaining to separate and secure waiting areas (SSWA) and the conspicuous posting of the Victim Bill of Rights in courthouses and police stations were approved and maintained by the Legislature and Governor Patrick in the Outside Sections of the FY 11 Budget.  To view the specific language, please click here.

The approval of these sections are notable steps forward in promoting enhanced safety measures and access to rights and services available to those navigating the criminal justice system.  We thank the Legislature and the Governor for their thoughtful review of these provisions and recognizing the need for these critical rights for victims and witnesses of crime.
